We collect the minimum data needed to run the business: your email address (if you sign up for our newsletter or free pack) and your purchase record (handled by our merchant-of-record, e.g. FastSpring, Paddle, or Lemon Squeezy). We use it to deliver your order, send product updates, and provide support. We do not use tracking cookies, we do not sell your data, and you can delete it or unsubscribe at any time.
01Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how Antinode, LLC ("ANTINODE", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you visit antinode.studio, sign up for our newsletter or free sample pack, or purchase one of our software instruments (Spektra-5000, TeeJee, Triple Helix, or STRATA).
ANTINODE is a small, independent company. We treat your data the way we'd want ours treated: we collect as little as possible, we don't sell it, we don't build advertising profiles, and we're transparent about every third party that touches it. This policy complies with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), and it aims to satisfy equivalent requirements worldwide.
02What Data We Collect
We deliberately keep data collection minimal. Here is the full list:
| Data | What it is | How we get it |
|---|---|---|
| Email address | The email you enter for the newsletter, free sample pack, or support. | You provide it directly via the signup form or by emailing us. |
| Purchase & order data | Order ID, product purchased, date, price paid, and EU VAT details. | Provided to us by our merchant-of-record (e.g. FastSpring, Paddle, or Lemon Squeezy) after a sale. |
| License & account data | Your license key/ID and activation count (up to 3 machines). | Generated when you purchase and activate a plugin. |
| Support correspondence | The contents of messages you send us, plus any files you attach (e.g. a crash log). | You send it to us by email. |
| Basic technical data | Plugin format & version reported by an activation check (DAW/OS version only if you volunteer it in a support request). | From the plugin activation/support process. |
What we do NOT collect
- No payment card numbers. Payment is handled entirely by our merchant-of-record. We never see, store, or transmit your card details.
- No tracking or advertising identifiers. No Google Analytics, no Facebook Pixel, no cross-site trackers. (See Section 6.)
- No audio, projects, or DAW content. Our plugins run locally and do not upload your music, presets, or project files.
03How We Use Your Data
We use your personal data only for these specific, limited purposes:
- Order fulfillment — to deliver your license and software, and to keep a record so you can reinstall if you lose your key.
- Product updates — to email you about important updates, security fixes, and new releases for products you own. You can opt out at any time.
- Newsletter — if you signed up, to send occasional news about ANTINODE (launches, free packs). Infrequent and unsubscribable.
- Customer support — to answer your questions and troubleshoot issues.
- License integrity — to verify activations stay within the 3-machine license limit and prevent abuse/piracy of our software.
- Legal & tax obligations — to meet record-keeping, tax, and EU VAT requirements, and to enforce our agreements where necessary.
We do not use your data for profiling, automated decision-making, or any purpose that produces legal or similarly significant effects on you.
04Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
For users in the EU, UK, and EEA, we rely on the following legal bases under Article 6 of the GDPR:
- Contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) — processing your order, delivering your license, and providing support, because you've asked to buy something from us.
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — sending the newsletter or free-pack emails you signed up for. You can withdraw this consent at any time.
- Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) — retaining purchase and tax records as required by law.
- Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) — protecting our software against piracy and abuse, and keeping existing customers informed of security updates for the products they own. These interests never override your rights.
05Third Parties & Service Providers
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We share it only with the specific service providers we need to operate, each of which is a data processor acting on our instructions under a written contract:
- Merchant-of-record — a company such as FastSpring, Paddle, or Lemon Squeezy that processes your payment, handles EU VAT, issues your invoice, and delivers your download link and license. They receive your name, email, billing details, and payment information. They are the "seller of record" for your transaction and process that data under their own privacy policy.
- Email service provider — a provider such as MailerLite or ConvertKit that stores your email address and sends our newsletter and product-update emails on our behalf.
- Hosting & infrastructure — the service hosting our website and license-validation system.
We may also disclose data where required by law, court order, or to protect our rights, property, or safety. In the event of a sale, merger, or restructuring of ANTINODE, customer data may transfer as a business asset, subject to the protections in this policy.
06Cookies & Tracking
ANTINODE does not use tracking or advertising cookies. We do not run Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any third-party advertising or analytics trackers on our website. We do not sell data to, or share it with, advertising networks.
The only cookies or local storage we may use are strictly necessary — for example, remembering that you've closed the free-pack form, or a basic session preference. These are essential for the site to function and are not used to track you. Our plugins themselves do not set cookies.
07Data Retention
We keep your data only as long as necessary for the purposes described above:
- Purchase & license records — kept for the life of your perpetual license and for as long as required by tax/accounting law (typically up to 7 years), so you can always reinstall your software.
- Newsletter & free-pack email — until you unsubscribe. Removing yourself from the list deletes your email from our active mailing list.
- Support correspondence — retained for as long as needed to resolve your request, then routinely deleted (typically within 24 months).
- Activation/technical data — kept for license-integrity purposes for the life of the license.
When data is no longer needed, we delete it or anonymize it so it can no longer be associated with you.
08Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Here's how to exercise each right with us:
Get a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Correct data that is inaccurate or incomplete.
Ask us to delete your data, subject to legal retention duties.
Object to processing based on legitimate interests, or request a restriction.
Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
Unsubscribe from email at any time via the link in any email, or by contacting us.
To exercise any of these rights, email legal@antinode.studio. We respond within 30 days (often much sooner). If you're in the EU/UK, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
09International Data Transfers
ANTINODE and our service providers may process or store data outside your home country (for example, in the United States). Where this involves transferring EU/UK personal data outside the European Economic Area, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (and UK extension) or Standard Contractual Clauses, so your data is protected to a standard equivalent to GDPR.
10Children's Privacy
Our website and products are not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13 years of age (16 in jurisdictions that require a higher age). If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
11EU & UK Representative
For data-protection matters in the European Union and the United Kingdom, our representative under Articles 27 of the GDPR is:
[Insert EU/UK Article 27 representative — name, postal address, and email — or remove this section if processing does not trigger the Art. 27 requirement]
EU/UK users may contact either the representative above or us directly at legal@antinode.studio.
12California & US State Privacy (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, the CCPA/CPRA gives you the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion, and opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. ANTINODE does not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law, so there is nothing to opt out of. To submit a request, contact us at legal@antinode.studio. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
13Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as our products and practices evolve. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, post a notice on the site or notify affected customers by email. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
